GLS Custom Shipment with Magento 2
GLS
GLS, one of the market leaders for parcel shipping in Europe, offers reliable express delivery and high-tech logistics solutions in 41 European countries and 8 American states. This results in GLS delivering more than 580 million parcels annually. That is why a lot of online shop owners rely on GLS for a correct delivery of their products. In order to fulfil this promise, GLS is constantly investing in innovation.
This year GLS wanted to make the daily tasks of their customers a lot easier by allowing them to add shipment methods to their checkout and to create GLS shipment labels during their order handling. To do this, a magento 2 module needed to be custom built.
For this project PHPro was happy to make a big contribution!

Results
PHPro built a Magento 2 module that makes GLS available to users on the Magento Marketplace. To use this module effectively, you need to contact GLS to get authentication information. The GLS shipment module is available now.
Front-end
When the magento 2 module is installed and configured, you will see two new shipping methods in the frontend on the checkout page: GLS Home delivery and GLS Parcel Shop.
If a customer then selects GLS Home Delivery (and Flex Delivery is available and configured), 2 additional options will appear:
- Parcel flex delivery
- Express delivery
When the customer selects Parcel Shop Delivery, they then select a pickup location on a map that visualises and lists all Parcel Shops.
After the customer selects a Parcel Shop as the pickup location, a detail screen with more information unfolds.
The visitor confirms his/her choice here by clicking on a button. After this GLS takes action to deliver the package!
Back-end
With the Magento 2 module the operator can manage back-end orders, generate shipping labels and download labels.
In the additional tab, the user can configure the general account settings. Here you define the specific shipping methods configuration for GLS Home Delivery and GLS Parcel Shop Delivery.
Finally, the user can also generate Shipment Labels and Shop Return labels. These are stored on the Magento server.
We did it!
With this module, GLS now has a fixed spot next to competitors such as DPD and BPost for delivery methods on checkout pages all over Belgium.
