Magento Order Management System
A big focus during Magento Imagine 2016 was the Order Management System (OMS). Rob Sweeney, Sr. Director Product Management Magento Commerce Order Management, made it clear that inventory is crucial in this context. The goal is to make items available any time, anywhere, convenient for the consumer. The amount of channels where customers can buy will only increase. As a result, from integration standpoint, sending over data will become more complex and thus needs more integrations. In a couple of years we will be living in a world where for example your fridge will order the needed products for you. In order to manage all these sources, Magento created an Order Management System. The solution is a Software as a Service (SaaS) and provides in business rules like 'An order with product X can never be shipped from Store Y' or 'an order can be split maximum 2 times in order to prevent high shipping costs'.
This was an interesting slide:

Magento Enterprise Cloud Edition
With a lot of energy Magento introduced a new product: Magento Enterprise Cloud Edition. This solution is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) and offers all the benefits of modern cloud computing that are most commonly associated with scalability, high resilience and availability, PCI compliance, global availability and automated patching, while still maintaining flexibility in software customization that our merchants require. The picture looks like this:

It was a very interesting presentation. Not only looking from customer experience part, but also from the integration part. Check out the solutions that were used:
Not to mention that the project was realised in 1 year using 10.000 days of developement. Yes, 10.000 days! All on Open-Source systems; Mule as ESB, OROcrm as CRM, Akeneo as PIM, Magento as Digital Commerce and OMS. Supported by 120 servers in 2 datacenters.
Travelling back from Las Vegas to Frankfurt we wanted to try this beautifull omnichannel experience but got this surprising message, woops..
Future is Commerce
After visiting Magento Imagine we even more believe that this quote is the key to success:
"Omnichannel should not be a topic during business talks, it should be the business itself"
Our visit to Magento Imagine 2016 as a Magento Solution Parter from Belgium emphasized that Magento received more freedom in order to grow thanks to the investment of Primeira. From several Magento employees we received the feedback that the ability to grow, expand and improve is bigger than ever.
The future is commerce.
