PHPro Update May

Published by Nathalie De Martin

We find that a lot of people, both potential clients and potential employees, are curious about what it's like at PHPro. Therefore, from now on we would like to take you through our regular updates, where we pick out the best and proudest moments of the month!

Livegang Hubside.store

The month of May got off to an immediate strong start, as our colleague Géry managed to hit the ground running with the live launch of Hubside.Store. Since March 2021, Géry has been working as a consultant in the role of analyst and PO for French company Hubside. He was engaged right from the RFP process in order to ensure a smooth transition from Magento 1 to Magento 2. Therefore, he helped Switch and Hubside coordinate and gather requirements, functional analysis and, of course, validation. The result is impressive, as the website https://www.hubside.store/ has everything a modern webshop should offer!

Performance

Many of our employees had been looking forward to it for a long time, but Monday, May 16 was the day: the pagespeed training by Erwin Hoffman. In the morning there was a 'less-technical' training part where we got a lot of extra insights on pagespeed and UX through a fun interactive quiz.

In the afternoon, after some delicious sandwiches and a speedy ice cream, there was a technical training, where our employees learned how to analyze and interpret a web page test and the corresponding waterfall. It was a super instructive training and everyone went home inspired.

VAR

That inspiration also gave a lot of employees “appetite” to get to work on their project and Youri didn't miss the opportunity! By making a simple CSS adjustment for the Var, he immediately managed to generate a 5% performance boost. That tastes like more, of course, but for now: well done Youri!

SLEEPWORLD

The Sleepworld team had also done some research prior to the Pagespeed training and they managed to release quite a few CLS (cumulative layout shift) improvements to production in April. Since Lighthouse needs 28 days to process these adjustments, we were very proud of the result this month: an improvement of no less than 35%!

Juntoo live

May was a fruitful month, because on May 23, Juntoo's new PWA webshop also saw the light of day. Juntoo had recently undergone a redesign, which makes the current React frontend look very similar, but there are some differences under the hood! Thanks to some performance improvements, the site was able to generate more sales from week 1, so not only the client but also we can look back with pride on this project. It was an interesting project, because this PWA uses a lot of integrations, ranging from Akeneo to Sensefuel and Frosmo. On to phase 2!

Summer Event

In addition to work, there should also be some room for fun and so Xplore Group organized a real Summer Event on Thursday, May 19. A successful evening for our team, because in addition to delicious drinks, a delicious BBQ was provided. But the fun did not stop there: a kicker table, dartboard and arcade area provided some gaming fun, while the dancers among us could enjoy live music and limbo ;)

PHPRO SPAIN

Extra fun was that on the occasion of the Xplore Summer Event, our Spanish PHPro colleagues also descended on beautiful Belgium. They did not do so empty handed: at the office in Kontich and Hasselt they provided real Valencian Jamon - delicious!

BREAKFAST

By the way, the BBQ was not the only fun thing Xplore Group organized in May, because earlier in the month, a week-long generous party breakfast was provided for our employees in Kontich and Hasselt. From chocolate rolls, croissants to bacon and eggs: everything was provided.

TEAMBUILDING

Every month PHPro provides a fun budget for each team and in May this was eagerly used: team 1 went laser shooting, while team 4 opted for Flashy Golf with a snack.

New Oro project

Also good news for our ORO team in May, because in addition to Cibo, Clabots Tools now chooses PHPro as a partner for their new B2B project in OroCommerce. We are already looking forward to the start!

Xandres continues to invest

Xandres also announced in May to invest fully further in their shop. Earlier this year they already launched a Kiosk for their flagship store in Antwerp and linked their shop to the marketplace of Van Graaf and Peek & Cloppenburg. For the next six months, they are choosing to expand their marketplace strategy even further, with Zalando.nl on the horizon, among others! In addition, Xandres switched to a new Adobe version in May, and we are happy to report that this upgrade went very smoothly.

Airnet integrates Adobe Commerce with Adobe Experience Manager

Airnet System believes in the power of the Adobe Suite, so a few months ago they chose to have their CMS site, built in Adobe Experience Manager, and their ecommerce site, built in Adobe Commerce, integrated together. That this coupling works beautifully is evidenced by the result that can now be admired live!

Five years of Sarah & Bert

We close with our top colleagues Bert & Sarah who are celebrating their five-year anniversary at PHPro this month, and of course we hope to add at least 40 more years to that! ;)
